Eflora® Cream is manufactured by Ranbaxy. This is a topical medication used to stop the growth of unwanted facial hair in female patients. Note, that Eflora® Cream has no depilatory properties, meaning it will not remove the already existing hair from your face. Instead, this cream inhibits the production of the hair originating under the skin, so that hair stops growing.

Eflora® Cream comprises Eflornithine Hydrochloride as an active ingredient. Eflornithine Hydrochloride is a non-hormonal and non-systemic antiprotozoal agent of alpha amino acids class.

Eflora® Cream is indicated to treat facial hirsutism (abnormal facial growth) in women due to genetic predisposition, menopause and the aging process, hyperandrogenism (androgen excess disorder), polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), taking medications that may cause facial hair growth (Minoxidil, anabolic steroids, testosterone, glucocorticoids, and Cyclosporine).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Eflornithine Hydrochloride is an enzyme-activated irreversible inhibitor (also known as suicide inhibitor) of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), the key constituent in polyamines synthesis. Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) are essential in hair growth, as they participate in cells differentiation and replication. The lack of polyamines hinders the anagen phase, therefore stops hair growth.

Eflora® Cream should be used twice daily, preferably in the morning and at bedtime, with an 8-hour break between the applications.

It may take 4-8 weeks of Eflora® Cream application before you see the first results.

Consult your doctor if you see no improvements after 4 months of Eflora® Cream application.

If skin irritation occurs, reduce the number of Eflora® Cream applications to one time a day.

If you are going to apply Eflora® Cream after hair removal procedure (such as shaving, waxing, etc.), wait for 5 minutes at least before putting the cream to avoid skin irritation and burning.

Eflora® Cream should be used only in female patients older than 18 years of age.

Be aware, that after quiting Eflora® Cream usage the hair on the treated areas may grow back in 8 weeks.

How to use Eflora® Cream:

1. Wash your hands.

2. Make sure the application site is clean and dry.

3. Apply a thin layer of the Eflora® Cream to the affected areas and under the chin.
